Purnakala School of Indian Art presents Art for All Workshops
Purnakala is happy to bring traditional Indian Painting workshops to the Seattle community! In this first module from Sept 2025 to Jan 2026, we will be exploring Classical Painting Traditions of Southern India.
January 2026: Kalamkari Painting Workshop
In January, come learn about Kalamkari painting, a traditional textile art form from the state of Andhra Pradesh, India.
In this workshop, we will delve into the traditional process of creating Kalamkari on textiles and learn how to thoughtfully translate it onto canvas using modern mediums. We will discuss the two distinctive styles of Kalamkari—Sreekalahasti and Machilipatnam—understand their unique motifs and draw inspiration from both to create a harmonious Kalamkari composition.
Create and take home a beautiful painting of Annapakshi (8 × 10-inch, acrylic on canvas).

Who can attend?
Adults of all skill levels are welcome. Come create in a friendly community setting. No drawing or painting background required. Step-by-step instructions will be provided.
Fee: $85
Fee includes all materials for in-class use. It also includes thenew sales tax levied by WA state since Oct 2025 for live presentations.
