Purnakala School of Indian Art presents Art for All Workshops
Purnakala is happy to bring traditional Indian Painting workshops to the Seattle community!
Narrative Scroll Paintings of India
This module explores India’s rich traditions of narrative scroll painting, where stories are composed through sequential imagery, rhythmic pattern, and symbolic visual language. Participants will create hand-painted cloth panels while learning how different textile supports can be prepared and adapted into finished artworks using contemporary materials.
April Workshop: Chitrakathi Painting
Chitrakathi is a vibrant storytelling tradition from Maharashtra, where painted images are used alongside oral narration. In this workshop, you will learn the characteristic bold lines, flat colors, and expressive figures that bring these stories to life, creating your own narrative-inspired artwork.
Create and take home a beautiful 9 × 12 inch painting on a linen canvas panel, designed to add a rich pop of color to your wall.
